The testing process can vary based on the child and the need for testing. A typical testing process consists of a parent interview, a testing session, and a parent feedback session. You may also receive parent and teacher rating forms to complete. The entire process is typically complete within one month. Absolutely! Just like watching Archer at the dog park, we love to see your child in one of their natural environments. There is an additional fee for school observation above the testing rate. School observations generally last an hour, and are best conducted between the parent interview and the testing session.
We love to work with elementary aged children and parents to help children have better control of big emotions. This type of therapy works best when both parents and kids can continue to work on skills at home, outside of the therapy session. Therapy can be customized, but sessions generally involve 30 minutes with just the child, and during the last 15-20 minutes, the child teaches their parent what they’ve learned. We find this helps to reinforce the skills they’ve learned, to open up a healthy line of dialogue between child and parent, and allows the skills to be practiced outside of the session.
Yes! At this time parent sessions are done virtually. Testing sessions are always done in person. Child therapy sessions are generally best done in person, but virtual sessions can be considered based on the child and family needs.
